Jane eats Botak’s Western food!

May 3rd, 2007 by janetalks

Basically, i got to know this place from a TV show, apparently owned by some american-botak-ang moh who wanted to blend in with the locals by calling himself botak and selling his food on HDB block kopitiam. Talk about blending… When i saw the food they serve, man, i tell you, it is wicked esp this burger.

Burgerucrazy_3

Ironically, this burger’s name is exactly what you will be thinking or those around you be thinking - U-Crazy-What?! It has 3 patties of beef, (made from scratch) and melted cheese all over it. If you wish to put on weight, just eat this a couple of times, i guarantee you… you will definately put on weight. Truthfully speaking, i ate the 1-patty burger that day and man, i tell you.. i couldn’t finish everything cos the large no. of fries and i didnt even add cheese on my burger. One kind of promotion i recommend this place to do - "Finish the whole plate of U-Crazy-what?! and pay nothing" I seriously doubt not many can do it.

Though they recommend their burgers as their specialty dish, i highly recommend their fish n chips for those who have a normal, non-challenging eating pattern like me.

Fishchip_reg

It could be the tartar sauce they make, it goes well with the fishy and o… the fries, not any ordinary fries, but mixed with spicy salts… i think. You should taste it.

Think the only thing i didn’t like about that place is the environment. Tons of young people go there and eat which makes the place like a kopitiam.. wait a min… that place is a kopitiam. Well, just a little rowdy and noisy for my taste. Botak should open a restaurant or something…

So here it is, my this week’s recommendation -

My 1st food blog - Jane Eats!

April 23rd, 2007 by janetalks

As a singaporean living here for 26 years, i conclude that there is nothing as fun as eating & queuing up for good & economic food. My uncle(who used to be a singaporean) came back to SG for a short holiday and when he asked me what is fun to do here, i said "Nothing… prob the thrill to find good food to eat."

I must say that eating is like a routine to me, i am one that eats-to-live but for some, they live-to-eat. However, thru time, i begin to enjoy eating good food because my company of friends have high standard of taste if u know what i mean. So here we go, my first food blog…. (Btw, i will recommend 1 food stall every week for those of you who are interested)

MY 1ST RECOMMENDATION - MUFFINS & CAKES

For me, i started liking to eat muffins when my sis was working for coffee bean. Ehm… yeah, is weird. She would bring home tons of leftover muffins unsold and i was able to taste all kinds of muffins. Thank God for sisters who worked at coffee bean.. Ehm… anyhow.. thats when i started to like them. First of all, i don’t just eat any kind of muffins. I like american-cafe-big-real fruit muffins, none of that bakery who bakes artificial coloured muffins.

Chocolatnspice_01_1

Look at this and you know it is good stuff. Reading from other websites, this stall owner used to be a hotel chef decided to have a stall in the hawker centre so that everyone can eat nice muffins in cheap prices. Awh… so nice of her. Besides the muffins, you should buy their cheesecake which is the best cheese cakes i have ever eaten. So look no further, those of you who lives north-eastern of singapore and loves muffins like i do, do head down here.

Whats the rush??

April 17th, 2007 by janetalks

Yes, i am back. You must be wondering why am i so lazy, never blog anything last week. Well, the truth is that i was busy mugging for my exam & i must admit, i struggled to get the information in my head. I wonder if one’s brain does strink as we get older or is it just me?? (Think is just me)

My thought of the day: Why do people give up so easily??

My guess is that living in an environment and century today where everything seems to be going so fast that some of us are too slow to catch up. We buy cars that are able to drive faster, buy computer that have bigger ram so that it runs faster, faster broadband, even food that we eat needs to be either fast food or else we will complain that it is too slow.

The problem is that we no longer know how to function when we don’t get the things as fast as we want to. We just simply give up. I think that many regret because they didn’t slow things down to think through but instead choose to be impatient. Results, i want results, good results and i want it NOW! Sometimes, i just can’t stand it. Lighten up, pls. So what if you don’t get things done NOW.. it is not end of the world. It becomes worse when you keep throwing impatience to those around you, make them suffer from heart-attack and discomfort.

Even in areas when we tend to give up on people esp when they don’t function the way we want them to, think that they are hopeless and cannot be helped forever. Sometimes, people just need time to change, understanding and acceptance from the general crowd. Imagine yourself being given up by people, no one believed in you and thinks you are hopeless. Definately not easy to swallow.

Guess all i want to say is that we must learn to take things slow sometimes and learn to be patient esp towards people. You can choose to either make or break the person. What is the rush???

Is that a question/compliment/insult?? (Part 3)

April 1st, 2007 by janetalks

Last saturday, i went to this video store to rent some VCDs. As this was my 1st time there, i was unfamiliar with the rental terms there so here is what happened.

Store lady: "Is this your 1st time renting here?"

Me: "Yes, 1st time"

Store lady: "But you have to be 21 years old to be able to rent here"

(-_-)   (*_*)   (-_-)    (*_*)   (-_-)

Me: "Excuse me, but i am already 26 years old"

Store lady: "IC pls…"

Ok, maybe it was my fault to wear a tee that is cute that day but still, it doesn’t justify the fact that i don’t look like someone who is above 21. Come mon!! How old am i then? 16 or 18? Even then, i was not renting porno or anything… it was only some HK drama seriel, why must it be 21 to be able to rent? Video Ezy doesn’t even have such strict requirements.

As such, is that a question/compliment/insult?

Answer: Insult (AR……………………………………………….gh!!

Just a little thought….

March 31st, 2007 by janetalks

I was driving my parents to Changi Ferry terminal today and i was intrigued by the place, Changi. I personally have been to Changi a couple of times but never have i have such a revelation of that place. Did you know that the place is quite diversified? You see planes in 1 place, then when you drive further you see changi prison and beside it changi village where you knows what happens at night. A little further up, you see rich people playing golf and right beside it, a military base camp. Why is that??

Jane Talks non-stop for 2 years!

March 30th, 2007 by janetalks

Believe it or not, this blog has been here for 2 years. (Can’t believe how tokative i am) Nevertheless, it seems like yesterday when i was struggling to think of what to write in my blog. I thought to myself that i can’t write without a theme or goal to this blog so i decided to use my teenie talent of humour to write things such as Top 10 list, unfortunate things that happen to me occasionally or it could just purely be things that i see that give me inspirtation.

Believe me, i didn’t start this blog because i want to gain any form of popularity but i am glad that there is some readers who do supports me for what i write and never gives up even though it is just so tough to just leave behind a comment on my blog. (This one not my fault) Of course there are secretive readers who shall not be named because i don’t know who they are.

So what can you expect from this blog for the next few years? More serious discussions on politics.

Nah… Me talk about politics…. makes me wanna go to (zzzzzz) But let me assure you that it will still be filled with humour & entertainment but occasionally, a few spiritual insights to encourage my christian buddies. Pastor always teach us that man without a vision will perish, therefore my blog shall have a vision so here is a top 10 list of things to expect from my blog for the next few years.

TOP 10 THINGS TO EXPECT FROM MY BLOG IN THE YEARS TO COME:-

10. More originality by learning other forms of humour from other comedians.

9. I will be serious to write something decent once in a while….

8. Nah… i take my words back from no.9

7. No matter what u think and say, i am just going to blog whenever i please even if it is going to be 2 months 1 time.

6. Eliminate Top 10 & intro top 20 list.

5. Think carefully before i post a blog.

4. Prizes to those who guess correctly for any of my quiz.

3. Prize collection is subjected to whether you will get to see me in person during that week.

2. Either laugh or cry after reading my blog.

1. This blog will not end up as "Jane Rots".

Happy weekends everyone!

Let your heart be overwhelmed… hopefully with happiness & not troubles

March 23rd, 2007 by janetalks

Ps 61:2 … When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than i.."

I was pretty encouraged by this verse as i was reading the Bible one night cos i was feeling discouraged & sian to where my life is right now. Somehow, thru this verse, God gave me a vision. He brought me to this place where it is the highest point of the city where you can overlook the whole city. (Not sure whether i am in Sg but nevertheless…) Looking at it from a high point, you see almost every activity going on down there. Some of the people are losing their loved ones, some are suffering from depression, some are in lack of money, some are down with sickness that cannot be cured.

Maybe thats how God looks down from Heaven and look into the many lives of people. When i was looking at the bad events going on around the people’s lives, suddenly i felt that my own problem doesn’t seem to be so big and overwhelming anymore. Thats when i felt God telling me on the part "Lead me to the rock that is higher than i" - means that problems turn smaller when you go up higher & look at God’s view upon the earth.

Guess what i am trying to say is life is short, always make sure that you are on the happy side of things. Even when things don’t turn out the way they should, lighten up and move on. You are definately not the worst case of problems in this world.

The reason why i am not a groupie of any kind

Ccc_band_1

Last Sunday, CCC band came by CHC to minister and i must say that their music has indeed went up to another level. Being impressed, i went to buy their CD after the service. Usually there is an autograph session for every band that comes by the church but i don’t usually queue up for signatures because i don’t like to queue. However, for that day when i was done with the purchase, i realised that the queue wasn’t that long. I kind of hesitated but my members encouraged me to do it. I was also ironically the last person to be allowed to queue for autograph. (It was so meant to be… or is it)

Abcd0006_1

So i went and queued and little that i realised that people might spot me queuing… great… 1st time queuing for such things, gana spotted by so many people… Frankly speaking, i was quite nervous. (Don’t know why) maybe it is because it is CCC band… (Could it be the anointing?) ok, i think too much… but when it came to my turn, i remained cool until Joe pringle had to strike a tiny conversation with me & my response to that turned out was so silly. (Sorry, not going to tell you what is it) Great… i thought… i made a fool out of myself infront of Pst Pringle’s son.

Signature_1

To prevent myself from getting into my own foolish trap again, i decided to come up with a list of things to prepare myself before i go for some autograph session in the future. (Well, you can use it if you find any useful)

TOP 10 THINGS I MUST DO BEFORE I GO FOR ANY BAND’S AUTOGRAPH SESSION:-

10. First of all, ask my friend who is in the queue to do it for me.

9. If not,  pretend to look busy and try not to have eye contact with anyone esp with someone i know who spotted me queuing.

8. Be determined not to say anything, just smile and be cool.

7. If they have to ask me "how am i", i will reply "good" and say nothing else.

6. If i happen to be nervous again…well… i will try not to.

5. Think to myself.."Do i really need the autograph?"

4. Remember that the band consists of human beings just like you and i.

3. Keep the previous CCC autograph session in mind. (*_*)

2. Re-enact with friends for practise before the REAL autograph session.

1. Be myself but NOT too much.

When a man loves a woman

March 13th, 2007 by janetalks

Yes, some of you are wondering where did i fly to last week. The truth is that i was having my exams & i was busying studying. I must say that it wasn’t easy esp when i haven’t been studying for a while after since my poly or bible school days. Mugging was not something i look forward to esp when it always leads me to feeling heaty due to lack of sleep from all the studying. Guess i am just not the study type but i do hope to score well. Pls pray for me if you are my christian friend. Thanks!

Mar6_2 Oh well… moving on.. Today i would like to talk about man & why some of them are labelled "henpecked". Basically, i think that henpecked is such a negative word to start with. I think a better word to describe them is ‘loving wife/gf more’. To some, many think they are afraid of their wife/gf but if you really think about it, men are so much stronger & bigger than women. Imagine a big elephant being scared of a tiny mice if you would. They can easily take women let alone, they are being called to be the leader in the relationship.

Mar28_1

Other negative labels of ‘loving wife more’ includes easy, no-opinion, push-over, beck-n-call, quiet, easily bullied etc. Positive labels (yes there is) include gentlemen, free-spirited, not-legalistic, open-minded, aims to please, not grudging, ready to serve & most importantly, an unconditioned lover. See?? More positive labels than the negatives ones.

To conclude, here are Top 10 demonstrations of love when a man loves a woman:-

TOP 10 THINGS OF WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN:- (Some are real life e.gs)

10. Continues to eat wives’ cooking for 10 years but never complains that her cooking is bad & mostly uncooked.

9. She sells his old but precious radio set for 50 cents to Gurang Guni man and says nothing.

8. Does all the household chores for their entire marriage.

7. Hardly goes shopping, eat plainly everyday & forgos buying PS3 just to get you a 25 carat diamond ring.

6. Gives you his credit card to purchase branded bags n shoes even though he can’t understand it.

5. Turns & look at you whenever he says something, afraid to say something wrong & anger you.

4. You put on tons of weight but he still thinks that you are sexy.

3. Doesn’t even argue, just let you win in everytime. (If you know what i mean)

2. Your driving is making him go mad inside but just sits there, not saying a word.

1. Puts 200% in the relationship when you only put in 100%.

Seriously speaking, i don’t think there is a guy out there who can fulfill all 10 of the things listed but if your guy fulfills 1, thats not too bad already. Remember, it is not henpecked.. it is loving more!
