Exciting Feb… well…at least for me…

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Today is the 28th of Feb which means it is the end of Feb. I must say that Feb is an exciting month as many things has happened. First of all, my sis & warren finally ROM… woohoo… Also days such as valentine’s day & the chinese new year which kept the whole town exciting with stuff going on everywhere. I must admit i ate alot of good stuff almost all the weekends because of the festivities.. Sinful Sinful…

The next thing i am glad about Feb is that there is only 28 days which means pay day comes early this month… woohoo.. Knowing that means be happier after opening all my Ang Pows yesterday. So little!! Barely reach $120 even though i had more this year. What is most sick is that i received one Ang Pow which has a super crumpled $2 inside only! Next year when i lau yu sheng, i am going to wish for more ang pows but with more money inside.

What can i say? 2007 has been good for me so far… Let’s see how it goes next month.

Separation is hard to do

Monday, February 26th, 2007

Once again, i saw my bro left again for Brisbane last friday. Back to school and back to painful reality where one has to cook, shop for groceries & wash for one self. i wonder why he is not happy about going back… oh…right

Ironically, there was a lot of people at the airport that night even though it was late. Well, maybe is because most of them, like my bro are heading back to Aus before school starts. Interesting sight to see other than just tourist or business travelers.

When it was time for my bro to enter customs, i was even more surprised due to the overwhelming crowd that is crowding around the departure area, somehow blocking my bro from entering into customs. What was even harder for my bro to leave was the sadness & tears from everyone around us saying goodbye to their loved ones. Great! The good thing was there was another group of people saying goodbye in a much happier tone, smiling n waving vigourously.

What i am trying to say is Separation is hard to do. Duh.. Basically, not a positive feeling. Makes one miss, sad, cry & prob lose it. Poor Jennifer (My bro’s GF) who had to wait for at least 9 months before she can see my bro again. My mum just keeps mentioning about my bro every other day. Separation can also be a death of a loved one, or a marriage/relationship/friendship which didn’t work out. Whatever it is, all not easy!

However, i do think that separation is not final unless you choose it. Though one is separated geographically, it is not separated totally when you choose to keep in contact & maintain the relationship. Also, friends that you do not meet up all the time is still there because he/she has not been separated from your heart. If you are separated with someone close to you now, don’t be dishearten cos you can choose not to.

New_year

Right… One more day till the big bang…. If you haven’t already know, Chinese NEw YEar is here. Indeed the song "Paint the town red" is applicable for this season. Nevertheless, i am excited being a chinese in this period of time cause we get ANg Pows! Speaking of which, i know many of you are getting married this year so enjoy ang pow collection for the last time… ahhaahahaha… ahem.

The next thing i am excited about CNY is the reunion dinner. I am always sight for the lovely food that my mum cooks & the enjoyment we have relaxing. Those chinese new year goodies… so tempting… i am so going to put on weight. Then we get to see relatives that we only see once a year which often leads to questions such as "are you attached yet?", "What are you doing in life?", "Did you put on weight??" Oh, great.

Nevertheless, one can still find benefits and enjoyment in this special occasion for us, chinese. So here are top 10 great things to look forward to in CNY:-

TOP 10 GREAT THINGS ABOUT CHINESE NEW YEAR:-

10. "Lao Yu Sheng". Come mon, you got to admit, we can only do this once a year & is really quite fun to toss food into the air without having weird stares from another table.

9. Food and more glorious food! If reunion dinner is not enough for you, there is always more snacks, drinks and goodies coming your way.

8. Nice decorations compromising of chinese lanterns, fire crackers & tons of piggies wishing you in different chinese new year greetings.

7. You can go shopping!!! (This is only applicable for the ladies)

6. The super long break. No School! No Work! Yippee!!!!

5. The only chance to say: "Gong Xi Fa Cai! Hong Bao Na Lai"

4. Good chance for you to throw away old, dusty stuff and own brand new stuff… (This is applicable for me, i like new stuff)

3. A good chance to catch up with your relatives. (Ok, maybe for some of you, it ain’t a good thing)

Vday

Last night, i had the chance to see my bro freak out over picking the right bouquet of flowers for his GF. "Should i pick this? She likes these flowers… But this is bigger.. that is more affordable… Does it look presentable?" Seriously, i have never seen my bro so anxious about flowers before. He doesn’t even like flowers but for the sake of Valentine’s day & pleasing his GF, even him, ex-commando has to cave in and surrender his money to the florist. (I bet he is cursing St. Valentine now)

However, this lead me to think how guys can be tormented over this day. 3 days of the year they probably have to work hard on. GF’s birthday, christmas & Valentine’s day. Of course naughty boys can’t be bothered. I am talking about the real men here. Ha.. SO gals, here’s top 10 list of why Valentine’s day will benefit you more than your guy. (Just helping you guys)

TOP 10 REASONS WHY VALENTINE’S DAY BENEFITS GALS MORE THAN GUYS:-

10. 10 out of 10 guys don’t really care about Valentine’s day but usually celebrate out of own self-will & to please you-know-who.

9. Affects their manly image carrying stuff that are either filled with pink hearts, cute stuffed toys or tons of different flowers being bundled together.

8. More often than less, you can see them stressed out because they have to plan & set-up the best dinner, best entertainment & best gift or else they will get it from you-know-who.

7. They have to give up Playstation time to go shopping.

6. They only get 1 gift or just a "thank you" at the end of the day when all the extravagent planning has done.

5. Guys who have trouble being in touched with their emotions might have a problem singing a love song or writing a poem.

4. They have to dress up or even smell better than usual which usually makes them uncomfortable.

3. Being in a classy restaurant with you, eating a candle-light dinner means he has to hold-in his loud burping, eat slowly and try not to spill food on himself.

2. I am not going to lie to you but it will definately cost them a bomb & possibility the only time you see them cry.

1. It drains them physically, mentality & financially. Military training doesnt seem so bad now huh, guys?

Gals, remember to appreciate your guy ok? They worked really hard. Happy fun!

Tell me whats going on…

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Lately, i feel funny on somethings that i saw. So here is a top 10 list of things…

TOP 10 THINGS THAT LEAD ME TO THINK "WHAT’S GOING ON?"

10. Motorcycles being modified looking like traffic police bikes. (Made me tense up for a while but realised that i didn’t have to)

9. Tons and tons of weird & deaf-tone Americans auditioning for American Idol 2007. (Way much more than the previous years)

8. Ah Ma-s everywhere crossing the roads without watching where they walk. (So they are the ones who walks by faith)

7. Everyone around me down with flu. (Hopeful not birdie ones)

6. Tons of women (even aunties) wearing low cut tops. (Is it in tread?)

5. Retro clothing that seems like maternity clothing. (Does it have to be so big & baggy?)

4. The increase in the no. of Hong kong type of cafes everywhere. (Do we really like to Yum Cha?"

3. Boring cable shows. (No wonder i choose to sleep early)

2. The sudden popularity of the lead actress of the 7pm channel 8 show. (Who is she?)

1. Increasing prices in everything such as ERP & GST (WHat’s going oN???!!!!)

Knowledge leads to understanding… well, sort of

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

One time, i was talking to my dad and he was telling me after being married to my mum for 30 years, he still don’t get her. Well, don’t all men??

After reading quite a no. of books in regards to the word ‘relationship’, i come into a final conclusion. Men and women are NOT THE SAME! It is like a north & south pole. Chilli & tomato sauce. Different! For guys, strangers turned in friends just like that, just put them together watching soccer, they will be best of friends(That is if they are supporting the same team) Gals never just make friends just like that. Most of the time, they need time to know the person before they even dare to speak a word to each other. Don’t know why are we always on guard. To me, men are too simple-minded and women likes to make simple things complicated. No wonder the men never get it.

Ironically, many are always in search for the opposite gender so that one day, they could fall in love and get married. People always tell me that opposites attract but what people don’t usually say opposites- attack! Probably you will be intrigued with this person being so much different from you in the beginning but give it time, it might just bite.

But the talk with my dad didn’t turn out fruitless cos i taught him a thing or 2 about women. Look at me trying to teach my dad a thing or 2. Surprised huh?? Guys want to learn?? Basically, i told him that women loves to talk (Correct me if you are not one of them) esp to the guy that she loves. She likes to share with you because that means she gets to spend time with you. You must be thinking "Oh great…" this is totally taking away newspaper reading time for you but believe me, just give her 30mins of your ear time and you can spend the rest of the day reading or doing ur whatever. Please oh please, try to pay attention while she is talking and not be thinking of something else.

The moral of the story is men don’t try to understand women and women don’t try to understand men. You will never understand. Just read up and increase your knowledge in them. It is like a manual to you. It will help you to work things out successfully. For all you lovers out there, all the best. Make it work.
