3 words: I love traveling!

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

Recently, i just got back from my little trip to HK for a short break. Yes, yes i enjoyed myself very much esp trying to attempt speaking my broken cantonese with the locals there. Although this is my 4th time going to HK, i had a new found revelation: Food served at HK cafe or any place who tries to sell HK food here in Singapore is DEFINATELY not the same taste as those ones i ate at HK. It is definately 100 times better and tastier!!! I missed HK food.

Those of you who has never been to HK, let me tell you somethings about HK. People over there are hardworking and fast workers. They are very service-orientated people & i must say that SG has a lot to keep up with the service standards they have over there. Even grandma or grandpa walk faster there. THe food… Yum… ok i shan’t repeat myself. The weather is just nice and cool. How i wish SG weather can be like that.

I really love traveling because it gets your mind open to new cultures and how people behave in other countries. I am intrigued. If you have leave this year and want to take a short break, there are top 10 good things that happen when you are away for holiday.

TOP 10 GOOD THINGS OF TRAVELING:-

10. You don’t have to make your own bed or even clean up the mess you made which your mum always nags until you do.

9. Your mum is not there to nag at you.

8. Things that you won’t spluge on when you are in your own country but very willing to spluge when you are overseas.

7. The chance to exercise when you have no choice but to walk to get yourself around the city. Something you will not do even when you are back home.

6. More than anything else, you find that food cooked overseas is much nicer and tastier than local food. (*_*)

5. Your temper problem is no longer there because you are so relaxed.

4. You definately won’t bump into anyone u know while walking on the streets.

3. Nice treatment/service you will receive esp when they know that you are a tourist.

2. Cheap thrill of the plane ride. Weeee…

1. It brings you out of your mundane lifestyle and into this place where there is no responsibilities, no burdens with no one you know but most importantly, you get to do all the fun things all day long!! Man, i love traveling!

Warren Buffet’s tips for success

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

There was a one hour interview on CNBC on Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity.

Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:
1)He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!

2)He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.

3)He still lives in the same small 3 bedroom house  in mid-town Omaha, with that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.

4)He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.

5)He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world’s largest private jet company.

6)His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis.

7)He has given his CEO’s only two rules.

Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder’s money. Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.

8)He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch television.

9)Bill Gates, the world’s richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.

10)Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.

11) His advice to young people: Stay away from credit cards and INVEST in yourself.

This article came to me from an email from a friend which was from last year but only read till now. (Opps) Pretty interesting to know that a rich man like warren buffet can be so ordinary & non-threathening even though he is rich. Reading the book ‘Tuesday with Morrie’ also taught me that life is not about getting but it is about living it such as enjoying the environment & people around u. Normally, we are all blinded by the busyness of this world to appreciate the most impt things in life.

So that’s life. Simple & not complicated. Having needs & not wants. Appreciate & not taken for granted. Loving & not lusting after things. I wonder how many of us can achieve that?

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

Today is the 5th day of 2007 and i must say it feels fairly new, like something that you bought not long ago. It feels new. One thing that people get excited about the new year is the opportunity to start everything afresh. Prob a good way to get over something stupid they had done last year. Whatever it is, it is a celebration of forgeting the old and welcoming the new.

I was procrastinating on writing my goal card this year because of my lack of ideas on what i really want to do this year. I need inspiration cum motivation. However, i will figure it out as time goes by. Hope to get it done within these 2 weeks.

I wonder what people set on doing for their new year resolution?? When i think of this question, my mind goes wild esp in the whelm of being ridiculous so here are top 10 thoughts (Silly & ridiculous) of what i think are other people’s new year resolutions:-

TOP 10 RIDICULOUS NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS:-

10. Losing 10kg when you are already underweight.

9. Aim to look & sound more like Michael Jackson.

7. Making yourself fall sick more this year to get more leave from work.

6. Not speak to anymore for half a year then talk non-stop for the next half of the year.

5. Always trying to crack lame jokes to make yourself popular.

4. Instead of working harder, you decide to multiply your savings & spend most of your time at Kranji.

3. Last year you tried to control your temper problem but this year you decided not to.

2. Decide to limit to just 50 break-ups for this year.
