Just a gentle reminder…. 请主意!

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

I just realised something. In order for your dreams and visions to come to pass, you need people to help you get there. For e.g, if you want to learn guitar, you need a ‘teacher’ to help you acheive the dream of playing guitar or if you have a business and want to achieve being a MNC, you need good workers to help you achieve that goal.

I find that many of us tend to forget about the people who worked for us, the ones who help make things possible when no one else could. Therefore, if you have ever have the chance to be in a leadership position or if you are one now, never forget the team who has worked hard for you. Never take people for granted esp when you know that they are done their best.

- People work hard when they are appreciated.

- People are faithful and loyal when they are being recongnised for their effort.

- Most importantly, people are not made of robots, or animals that you can yell and scream at when things go wrong or don’t go according to your way.

Something else which i want to talk about….

One of my close friends was sharing with me last night that she felt that she was a little bullied at work because she has to give in to everyone’s request and she has no choice but to choose something that will not benefit her at all. I encouraged her to see the bigger picture and try to make peace within herself to forgive her collegues. Any team that is not united cannot be a strong.

Little did i realised that the next day, i suffered from the same fate of injustice on which i had to choose something that i didn’t want to do but being a woman of my word, i decided to see the bigger picture and hold in my resentments. Although wrong thoughts still cluntered my mind even as i type this, i decided to let go and let God.

Truth is life is never fair and no matter how much you want it, you are not always going to win all the time. Sometimes, you like working with some and sometimes, there are people who like to play hardball. However, you must always remember to look at the bigger picture and do the best that you can so that you can later explain to your conscience. Meanwhile, i will practise qigong on the spot and !!! (and also meditate… its for the Lord… for the Lord)

Living a life for others

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

It seems to me the trend of life has become suffocating & tiring when i see, hear how people talk about how stress and tired they are ALL THE TIME. Maybe is our culture, maybe is in our blood or maybe because we have no choice, the truth is that we are all busy for somethings, different definately but all the same important.

Recently, there was one more inclusion in our cg (Whom shall not be named by me) but this guy is kinda special esp when most of us know of his background. However, wonderful members of mine never fail to share and spread the love of God. Many things happened in this guy’s life again and again but no matter what, members are there to do their part so that the member knows that he is not alone fighting the war. I was touched by the gestures of my members, despite most of them being busy with their work and all, they managed to fork out time for the member, travelling great distances just so that the offering of help is not through mere words but becoming flesh. Almost everyone got involved in doing their part for this person and i must agree that indeed teamwork is definately more effective and powerful.

So what are you busy for in your life? Is it your family? Is it for your friends? Is it for your dream? Or are you not busy at all? *Opps. My member told me something which is true, that it is more meaningful to live for others rather than for yourself. Life is never about people meeting your needs, it is about you meeting the needs of others. So you maybe reading this today, and maybe you feel that meeting needs of others is not easy but just to encourage you fruits of labour will show and your effort in helping people will not go to waste. Also, if you have always been an unhappy person, wondering why life is so unfair to you … well,is time you start helping others and life will start become brighter.

Start thinking and reflect on what you should be doing and what you should not be doing. I know i will.

Back to blog

Oh dear, oh dear, its really been a while since i last blog and many people are wondering why am i so lazy.. haha… ok la, i am but it is also because i have been busy last week because of easter. So i am just going to write a short one this time round. ok ah?? better than nothing… opps.

Last week, it was a very long week for me esp having to help out for sound & the easter production. However, i do find joy in serving and though i watched the drama many, many times, i still feel touched by different scenes of the drama. I truly believe that God was there witnessing & directing the people in the production as well.

Throughout the whole week, i believe many have been working hard for the harvest. Though many have been busy for different things, but like what Pst Tan preached that day, we are all parts that form the body of Christ, different work but the same vision of winning souls.

I believe that many of us are feeling tired physically for the preparation of the service but seeing the no. of souls saved makes me feel proud because of my little contribution and that all the hard work has not gone to waste. What a great commission that God has called us to do. Praise God.

When is time to fly off… we don’t…

Last week, i had the chance to talk to some foreigners and when i say foreigners, i mean people who are not singaporeans… After my conversation with them, i realised something that is not right with us, Singaporeans. People in America, Europe, China and even Malaysia learn to find means for themselves at the age of 18 whereas you can still find Singaporean aging between 24-35 years old & still live with our parents!!!

I find that this is one cosmic question that i cannot answer. Are Singaporeans too handicapped to live without our parents or is it because the cost of living here is too expensive so we choose to stay with our parents to save money?? or is it because we are too comfortable in where we are cos our parents help us cook and wash our clothes. I must admit, if you ask me to cook or iron clothes for myself, i would freak out cos i haven’t got the chance to do any of these things yet and i am going to be 26 this year. Sure, i did some ironing myself but i am pretty lousy. I also did some cooking but i am only sure tat the food i cook will only be eaten by me alone. Whats wrong with me????

I know that many of us wanted independence, freedom from parents, no more nagging from parents… but when we take one step out of the door, the reality of bills, laundry, household chores and everything that our parents shield us from began to hit us, we take a step back and decided to go back watching TV and forget about independence for the next few years.

I know that the government encouraged us even when we are married to live close to our parents and because of our roots as chinese, we are more filial than other ethnic groups. However, i still feel that parents here are too protective and children grow up to be slackers…

Actually when i decided to write this, i want to put a point across and prob a situation to reflect on. Bible says that we must honor our parents, we should not be living out of them even when they are 65, we should be the ones to take care of them and giving them provision. I am not asking you to move out now but just to say that if you have the means to live off your parents, do that…
