Rain Rain don’t go away

Tuesday, October 25th, 2005

Is getting close to the end of the year which means monsoon season is here. Sorry, not talking about the hair salon fyi but as u already have known, it has been raining alot these couple of days. The whole of yesterday was raining yesterday as well. Don’t know if you believe me or not, but the strong thunder caused my whole office building to shake. Scare me sia.

Sad enough to say rain is all we got in Singapore compared to some countries who might be experiencing snow soon. Kinda drag a little that is monsoon season cos it means that you have another item in your bag: Umbrella. Sometimes i think that Ponchos/Raincoat is more helpful than umbrellas, you know what i mean?? Esp. rain that goes sideways.  (-_-)

Speaking of rain, i had a revelation from the Lord as i was reading the Bible in Isaiah 30:23

Then He will give the rain for your seed
With which you sow the ground,
      And bread of the increase of the earth;
It will be fat and plentiful.
In that day your cattle will feed
      In large pastures.

I believe most of us in one way or another are tight in our finances(Including myself) and maybe like me, you are waiting for a financial breakthru in your life and prob snapped in your mind wondering when will it ever come. The Lord encouraged me in this verse that as we begin to sow seeds into the Kingdom of God, what is in the natural happens in the spiritual as well.

Therefore, the answer to seed growth. Rain n sunlight..(Duh) which is provided by the Lord. Truth is we can’t determine the weather, there is no hotline to dial for the choice to have rain or sun that day. However, it is our faith that determines the growth rate of our seed.

James 5:17-18 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit

Our faith unlocks the realm of the supernatural. If you are struggling with your finances, i encourage you to have faith in your giving and keep praying until you get your breakthrough. v16 The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Short version of this entry:

Source of rain n sunlight -God

Rate of growth - Our faith by fervent prayer

Weather - Seasonal (There is a season n time for everything)

As it continues to rain these past few days, God reminded me of how He will continue to send rain in my life, where showers of blessing will not cease as i continue to seek & trust Him. I believe He will do the same for you. So everytime when you experience rain, be reminded of how much God wants to continue blessing you over your life.

My hope is in the name of the Lord

I was sharing the daily devotion during cgm last saturday so i thought why not share it here also. Hope that you will be encouraged by it.

Hope in God

Everyone of us have a hope within us, maybe a hope to get rich one day, a hope to have family, a hope to lose weight, a hope to be more spiritual etc. However, our hope can be easily burst when things don’t go your way and that is when you start to lose hope.

Hope is very important in a person’s life. When one loses hope, the life that they live tomr will be meaningless. Thats why people commit suicide cos they see no hope in their lives. However, as a Christian, our hope is always in God.

2 ways to renew our hope:

1. Look to His word. It serves as a reminder that His word will never pass away and that He is a promise-keeper.

2. Look to God. God promised Abraham a son but after waiting for 24 years, he still didn’t have a son but God will always remind him again and again… whether is showing him the sand or the stars, Abraham is reminded of God’s promise to him everytime he lose hope. So ask God to remind you of the promises that He has spoken to you.

Ish 40:30 Those who hope in the Lord shall renew their strength; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint

Most of us including myself are waiting for a promise to come to pass..let is not lose heart because our God is always faithful and He will fulfill His promise in you and give u the grace of strength until all the promises in your life come to pass.

Another frightening discovery!!

As as healthy-conscious soon-to-be 25 woman, hoping to keep fit till her late forties, i decided to research on how i could have a more healthy diet. I came across this local site: www.nutrition.com.sg Very good info for locals esp the section on local food guide where it tells us how much fat n cholesterol is in what we eat everyday. Scary i must say so don’t be blind by mere eating what u like to eat. Look at this chart and be wise in what u eat next time.

Daily Intake 56 300
S/n Food Fats (g) Cholesterol (g)
1 Waxed Duck 308 828
2 Mui Fan 159 342
3 Peking Duck with pancake 121 190
4 Luncheon Meat 114 199
5 Seafood Fried Ee Mee 61 109
6 Fuyong Egg 58 847

31 Sweet n sour fish 31 81
32 Kang Kong with shrimp paste 31 22
33 Fried Hokkien Mee 30 289

Frightening isn’t it?? Imagine a hungry boy in Africa indulging a piece and i mean 1 piece of waxed duck, he is ready to put on weight if he eats that everyday. Can u believe how some foods can be so deceiving  such as fried wanton, so small but yet so fattening.. and canned luncheon meat.. man, i am never going to eat those again.. so hope this list helps you, i know it certainly did for me.

What would i look like in the next 10 years?

Monday, October 17th, 2005

I was browsing around looking at current photos of some of the people i know and used to know and man i tell you, what a difference. Although it maybe a few short years of 5 years or some even 1 year, but the difference is kinda great. Some of them put on so much weight that i can’t even recognise them, some grew so old that no amount of Botox can help them look younger.

Truth is, people change and u know it first thru the appearance. The Bible say that man looks at the outward but God looks at the inward condition. How we look today is a reflection of how we are feeling today. If you are insecure and unhappy, you will lost with hair in the mess but if you are feeling happy, the atmosphere and even ur hair will look extra bouncy.

As for me, if you really saw the past and recent photos of me, nothing much has changed..(Sad enough to say) Of course i am not talking abt other people growing extra nose or mouth but they somehow changed the way they dress, look or maybe talk. Jesus says that the whole world may change but He will never change, He is faithful.

In conclusion, i will like to conclude this blog entry of 10 things i hope to have when i am 35.

TOP 10 THINGS I WISH TO SEE WHEN I AM 35:-

10. To be still in shape and not out of proportion.

9. To still own thick lustrous hair and still being able to dye them once in a while.

8. Hopefully, my skin is thick enough to cover my current eye bags.

7. To still look good even without make-up. (What are the chances?)

6. To be able to walk a flight of stairs without having to stop and pant for 5 mins.

5. That my whole set of teeth is still in tact.

4. Pimple-free face.

3. Hopefully not cute anymore. Just good to look at. Hahahaha

Doing with the little that you have

Is 11 more weeks before we end the year 2005. Time sure passes by very fast and so is my age. It dawn upon me also that i made a resolution this year to have this sum of money at the end of this year but as i looked into my bank account, a spirit of depression came within me telling me that i am not able to fulfill that amount.

Don’t worry, i ain’t going down into depression but i want to stay afloat in my finances. I begin to start thinking how to increase my wealth, like what the ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad’ book says, when u are desperate for money, you will find all kinds of creative ways to get money so that you will not drown but stay afloat. As i was thinking thru, good and ridiculous ideas come to mind. Good idea - Get 2nd job Ridiculous idea - Plant money tree. So much more BUT i don’t think u want to know.

Another thought to increase wealth if you are too tired to get a 2nd job is to cut down on expediture. Yes, God placed a will inside of us called the will power aka self control. The act of will power works when we make a decision not to. E.g Some of us(THAT IS YOU) likes to snack.. but to cut down on expenses, switch on that will power of yours and stop snacking.. can save u money.

So before you go borrow money or sell your blood or something like that, here are some creative life-savers that you can do to cut down on expediture.

TOP 10 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO SAVE MONEY:-

10. Having a garage sale. Earn money & can clear out the redundant stuff in your room? Thats killing 2 birds with 1 stone.

9. Stay home and watch re-run of old movies. Much better than watching with hundreds of people in the cinema and having the risk of ppl throwing pop corn at you.

8. Good way to bond with your friends: Share food.

7. Another good way to bond with your friends: Exhange clothes with one another so that you have ‘new’ clothes to wear. (Too bad if ur good friend is much bigger than you)

6. Hang out more with your parents.. cos they usually help you pay for your stuff.. Hehehe… I love my parents.

5. Be a hitchhiker. i know we don’t normally do this in SG but i am talking abt hitching rides from friends who drive.. Friends of mine who drives, i really appreciate you. :)

4. Have a target amount of $ that you want to save every month and stick by it. (Practical exercise for the will power thingy)

3. Be creative, make your own gifts. You will be surprised that personalized gifts from friends are so rare nowadays. Some Ideas: Own video msg, design your own cards in some card program, pick flowers from your own garden…

2. Carry plain water wherever you go… good for your body and pocket.

1. Save it(money) and save yourself.

The talk of our nation: Dengue fever

If you had not already known, the dengue fever is on the rise today, not just in the temperature of people’s foreheads but also in our nation. This is serious people, those things might be tiny, but they are sure deadly.

Someone i am close to recently was suspected to have dengue fever. It was really dramatic as seeing him a strong man before now lies in bed with a terrible sore throat, a very bad appetite, back aching everywhere, blood loss from the numerous number of blood test complete with a head about to explode because of high/low temperature. What is even more depressing is him being in an environment surrounded by elderly man who are sick and whining the whole night. It is indeed depressing…

Just want to encourage you if u don’t wish to put yourself in such a state, be vigilant about your surroundings esp your homes and your neighbourhood’s forested home. Here are top 10 things u could do:

TOP 10 THINGS TO PREVENT YOURSELF CONTRACTING DENGUE FEVER:-

10. Avoiding going to Yishun, Serangoon and Jurong areas as those are the hotspots of dengue.

9. For the sake of ur family and others, get another hobby, don’t do gardening anymore… you r giving opportunity for Aedes to give birth to 100 of eggs..

8. Go to the hardware store and do major shopping for Anti-mosquito stuff.. Having big sale..

7. New additional to ur perfume collection: Mosquito Repellant Spray.

6. Keep back all those pails and buckets u used to collect rain water just so you can save water. Why save a few dollars and risk having dengue?

5. Don’t be stingy…Go see the doctor for blood test if u have been sick for many days esp symptoms of fever, sore throat, rashes and back ache.

4. Eat tons of vitamin C, veges to build up body resistance. Exercise regularly too..

3. If your blood is O+, carry a insecticide with you or run away when you see a mosquito flying around, you are like shark’s fin to them.

2. Don’t hide yourself in the dark and damp room even if you are sad and need time alone by urself. Find somewhere brighter and more airy to cry.

1. Remember that you are also responsible in the prevention of the existing of Aedes mosquitoes… don’t always rely on pest control.

*Wa…il… I can’t handle babies…

Yup, thats baby Jovious… Isn’t he a good-looking young man?? He is officially just 4 days old… How very young he is… To those wondering, he ain’t my child but a precious gift to my friend.

I don’t know about you but i am not a baby person. Some people i meet, they are so good in handling babies whereas i am those type who would just stare in blank if i am ever left with the baby alone. I would be thinking… "What are u looking at?" Very bad i know. I had the opportunity to hold Jovious and mind you, it was my 1st time holding a newly born child. I was quite frightened because funny thoughts began to enter my mind such as what happens the baby sudden pees on me or he explodes at me crying profusely the moment my finger touched it…

Eventually, i was able to hold the baby very delicately.. Then i watched him sleep around my stiff arms and body, i couldn’t help but to smile cos even though he was sleeping, he was smiling with a happy grin as though he was having many sweet dreams. So Cute…

Once again for all you people out there who are like me.. Non-baby. Here are some tips you need to do before you handle babies…

TOP 10 THINGS TO DO BEFORE YOU GO HANDLING A BABY(WHETHER IS URS OR NOT)

10. First of all, stop behaving like one.

9. Change your mindset.. the baby is not an atomic bomb.. no need to be so scared.. won’t bite you.

8. Train those arms of yours… Babies are not soft toys, they do weight a ton.

7. Do warm-up before carrying the baby, won’t want to have a stiff body like mine.

6. Try holding a turkey for practise 1st before holding the baby.

5. Adopted Gu-Gu Ga-Ga language from the school of Baby talk.

4. Spend more time around them so that you can be used to them(Babies).

3. You must know tat the baby is not trying to be "DAO" to u if he/she never responds to you but that they are still not programed yet in their brains to react to your silly faces.

2. Invest in ear plugs to protect ur ears from going deaf cos babies do cry alot.

1. Loving them cos they are the cutiest things in the world.. Well, at least for most of them… (*_*)
