So i Look to You, So i Look to You

Opps, so long never update my blog… have been busy lately with work until no time to write my blog during work time.. Opps… cover exposed. (Kids, don’t learn)

Meanwhile, it seems to me that people around me seems to be alittle troubled by something in their own personal life. Trials n persecutions according to the Bible. It is the 1st month of building fund season. Not only is our finances tested, but our faith in God is tested as well. Yesterday, this ex-member of mine just lost her mum to cancer. It is personally saddening for me because i know her mum. Last year of today, when i was talking to her, she was still healthy and in good shape. Things certainly change in just a short period of 1 year. Other members that i know of also face finanical problems, family, health etc However, i believe that in every trial n persecution we go through, there is an opportunity to grow in the Lord. God never intended for us to remain in the same level of faith, but that we move from glory to glory. We can’t change facts but we can determine how we react to them. So just want to encourage some of you who are really going through stuff and that they are really nasty.. Don’t look down on ur circumstances and yourself, LOOK UP to God.. He will give you the grace and strength to go through all things. What you are going thru now is only temporaily but your character that is build thru the persecution will last for eternity. Take joy in that. (^_^)

Tomb_of_christ

Temple_mount

I was looking through the Israel study tour photos uploaded on the church website and couldn’t help but to fall in love with Israel. There is so much Biblical history and sights to see, is like seeing the Bible coming alive. Louisa and i are determined to go Israel next year for the study trip if there is any but it requires me to save like crazy but i think is all worth it. Every Christian in their lifetime should make up their minds to go at least once. So if you are still thinking about it, here are my top 10 reasons why i want to go Israel.

TOP 10 REASONS WHY I WANT TO GO ISRAEL:-

10. To ride on a camel. What? I have never ride on 1 before…

9. Try to learn swimming at the Dead Sea cos there is no need to purchase floats there.

8. To challenge myself to scrimp n save and hit the target of $5k. Phew… No more this and that.. this and that… Sob

7. To see if i can walk on the Sea of Galilee like how Jesus did.

6. To pull the beard of a Jewish man… ok, just kidding.. but always tempted to do that… Hahaha…

5. To check out whether the Jordan River is as dirty as they had mentioned in the Biblical times when Jesus was baptising people over there.

4. To touch, feel and see those places where Jesus has trapped His feet upon.

3. To spend time praying at the Western wall cos it is the most seasoned spot where generations of people spend time praying over there. I believe thousands of angels are hovering over there, waiting to send prayers to God.

2. To get a nice brown tan actually.. haha…

1. Where the presence of the Lord is, there i will be also.

My Conversion testimony

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

Last saturday, Pastor challenged us to share our own life testimony to our friends who never know Jesus or are confused why we do the things that we do in church. So i thought why not post it in my blog. So for those of you who already know or yet to know, heres how i got saved. Just to prepare you, my conversion ain’t dramatic but there is still significant change that took place. Check it out.

MY PERSONAL CONVERSION TESTIMONY

As i looked back on my life before i came to God, i really looked like a sheep, aimless and directionless in life. Just go thru life wandering around eating grass in the pastures. My parents gave me a nickname "Goondo" which apparently means blur, sotong etc. Sad case for me.. I was like any normal-looking gal, shy, averaged student, funny in my own quiet way, not popular, Miss Goody-too shoes.. boring actually..

Finally, God put a stop in my boring routine and send my poly friend to invite me to church. Frankly speaking, i didn’t want to become a christian because of the examples of my christian relatives. However, my friend was persistant. I remembered saying ‘no’ to her over hundreds of times over the phone but after 1 hour, i got tired. So just to get rid of her, i said yes to going. (Meisan if you are reading this, i am very thankful for what you have done, if not for you, i will still be bah..bah-ing..)

Meanwhile, i went to church.. i became dumbfounded after Praise & worship started all the way until i received salvation. Like a lost sheep, i was pushed infront to the altar call by my friend(Persistant she is) but i was too ‘gong’ to understand what had happened. The following week, i avoided my friend like crazy, MIA from service but the next day i felt so bad when i met her in school. I then decided to return back to church that weekend and made a decision to go regularly. Maybe is because i didn’t like that guilty feeling of lying.

Months went by, i went to church as usual but is because of habit but it ain’t a real conversion in my heart yet but i remembered vividly when i was touched by the Lord during worship, tearing like a kid not knowing what i kept leaking but i knew it was God. Then i decided that i want to know God more so i attended all the Bible study classes, conferences and i went to 2 years of Bible school.

Like i said, i used to quiet and shy but if you know me right now, i am totally opposite of that. My mum was a little stumbled when i started to talk non-stop and she is still trying to get over the fact. I am now a more confidant person, able to speak in crowds. I was a low-flyer in popularity in school but now i am a middle flyer in church.. haha..

In summary, i am a different person after i know God. I may not remember alot of things in my life, but i always remember how God showed up in my life. What used to be directionless for me, God turn it and made things meaningful for me. Life has more purpose now and i know that my life is secured because i am under the direction of His wings. Thank God for His grace and that He FIRST found me, so that i can spend the rest of my life knowing Him and do the things He wants me to do.

I was out yesterday night along Geylang road to grab some dinner while i noticed the huge population of ‘Ah Peks’ there. Well…for obvious reasons. Is funny to see all the ‘Ah Peks’ gathering together to drink beer and prob trying to look at women but sad to say..there ain’t many around. They must be so disappointed.

For all you ladies out there, don’t go to Geylang area unless accompanied by a guy. Why does all the good food have to be at Geylang as well? So inconvenient sia.. Have to deal with weird stares from men and the thought of wearing a signage on myself that says "I am not what you think i am" T-shirt. Ok, today’s top 10 list is interesting about where u can find more guys n lesser sight of gals.

TOP 10 PLACES WHERE U CAN FIND A HIGHER POPULATION OF GUYS THAN GALS:-

10. Geylang road. Obviously.

9. At a soccer match.

8. At a Kopitiam after 10pm. Boozing apparently.

7. Kranji Turf Club on Friday nights. Run Horsie!

6. A place around HDB blocks for people to display their birds in cages. Super meaningless and noisy.

5. The weights section at the gym. Show off.

4. Pulau Tekong. Fight..Fight on our country.

3. Comic store. Endless affair with it.

2. Construction sites. There are chinese, malay n Indian men but no ladies..

1. Outside toilet areas. Apparently waiting for their female counterparts to come out of the toilet.

Anymore to add people? Tomr i write on gals.. hehe

“and on the 7th day, God rested..”

Monday, August 15th, 2005

Hey everyone… Is a brand new week once again. I had a pretty good rest after coming back from the mission trip last weekend. I realised that there is a transition period you have to get over when u come back from overseas. Something about getting back the routine of your lifestyle here again. Man.. thats hard.

Rest is important people, your body ain’t a robot, even machinery breaks down sometimes. So eliminate those unneccessary activities in your life and make time for rest. Oh well, at least when you come to my age, you realised how important it is. You can easily tell when i am tired, is that look where you are a zombie, staring into space and unresponsive when people tries to ask you something. My CG member, Louisa commented that i ‘fainted’ twice during the mission trip and it somehow left her a memory that she will never forget abt me. Sob.. *How paiseh.. ANyway, thanks Louisa for writing about me in your blog. I feel so honored and alittle… just a little exposed by you. Hahaha.. revealed so much of me you naughty gal.. gonna write a top 10 list for u later in ur blog later.. haha

Anyway, coming back to the topic on rest, here are 10 good reasons why rest is important:-

TOP 10 REASONS WHY REST IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT:-

10. So that you can stop go around scaring people with your pale n tired look.

9. So that you won’t be caught by your member/friend when you faint and strike an ugly pose on the bed.

8. People starts to throw money on you, thinking that you are doing a performance of remaining still for a long time but actually you are staring into space.

7. Save money on Essence of chicken or red bull.

6. Save money on plastic surgery.

5. Save money on make-up.

4. Apparently, makes u less of a grouch but a happier person.

3. This may be either good or bad news for some of you but good rest gives you a better appetite for food.

2. It helps you to have clearer mind so that there is lesser room for mistakes at work/school and your short-term memory loss will be healed.

1. You are following the ways of God cos even God rested for one whole day.

So make a priority to find time to rest today.

Mission completed

Thursday, August 11th, 2005

Hi guys, i am back! Did u miss me? Haha… Anyway, heard that there was trouble logging into my blog for the whole week, well anyway, hope is fixed or else u won’t be seeing this entry.

The mission trip to KL was a fruitful one. We came back achieving what we went there to do. Though it was tiring but it was all worth it. Speaking of tiring, we must all learn to appreciate Pst Kong. I can totally understand what he meant when he was tired cos i experienced it for the past 3 days. That made me want to pray for him even more for strength of God upon his life.

Meanwhile, i want to use this time to thank God for this KL mission trip. There are so many praise reports that i don’t think my top 10 can contain, but these are the top 10 things that i thank God for this mission trip.

TOP 10 THINGS I THANK GOD FOR THE KL MISSION TRIP:-

10. I thank God that i was not sick even though people around me was down with flu and sore throat, coughing left right and center into my face.

9. I thank God for blessings for meals & other stuff. (Thanks Louisa, you are just so generous… touched by you)

8. I thank God for the opportunity to serve as an usher in the conference, now i learn to appreciate the ushers in CHC even more. Seriously not easy.

7. I thank God for the chance to make new friends in the mission team. Some of them are just so funny n nice. We look out and stand in the gap for each other. You guys also possess the spirit of excellence. Really a great team to work with and a great spiritual family to live with for eternity.

6. I thank God for CHCKL.. indeed they are doing a great work, building the same spiritual army as the one that Pst Kong build here in SG.

5. I thank God for good food in KL… seriously believe that they cook better there than it is here.

4. I thank God for Louisa & Xiao Xing… Cos they were certainly a blessing and i thank God for the chance to be able to know them better.

3. I thank God for Pst Kenneth who took care of the whole team so well, ministering to us spiritually and physically.

2. I thank God for His presence esp times when we pray and seek Him, His presence is so comforting and encouraging… we couldn’t help but weep in His presence, each time as we come together and pray.

1. I thank God the mighty breakthrough we received during the conference. I believe half of the crowd were not christians but they still lifted up their hands to praise & worship God with us. I saw an old lady worshipping and lifting up her hands even though we worshipped God for almost an hour. There is really spiritual hunger in the Malaysian community. Singaporeans, lets not lose the spiritual hunger, let’s continue to be more hungry for the presence of God in our lives.

Mission possible!

I am always excited to go for mission trip because i felt that my life calling was to be in missions. Couldn’t help also to recall how at this time of last year, i was also in mission trip to Medan, Indonesia for my 2nd year SOT training. Oh man… those were the times. Tiring but super exciting times!! Angie, Pat, Lixia & the rest, u know what i am talking about.

Therefore, as a tribute to the people that i went for my mission trip to, let me help you recall those exciting times. THere are so many things to say but here are the top 10 things that i will never forget.

Be Accident-free(Part 2)

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2005

I was out yesterday night having dinner with my friend’s family to come back to my car with tons of bird droppings all over the car. (I hope my mum doesn’t see this) I stand in awe, so amazed, my face totally changed by my car’s presence.. Sigh… Don’t know what the birds eat, when i went for the car wash, the person had such a hard time getting the droppings off the car while i am in the car having my hands all over my face.

I believe things like that happen to you without u praying or asking for it. Unlike on Monday, where i talked abt accidents that are somehow caused by us. These accidents are totally unprepared for, like how sometimes when bird droppings land on ur head, ur clothes tore suddently, your jeans zipper just refused to zip up etc etc… Embarassment with no fault of ur own. Here are some ‘accidents’ that maybe you can relate to.

TOP 10 ‘ACCIDENTS’:-

10. Tons & tons of bird droppings landed on your car.

9. Strong wind came and blew your expensive but fake hair into someone’s else face.

8. Your friend who suffers from butter fingers slipped and dropped a bowl of hot soup unto your lap.

7. The seam of ur jacket gets caught in your door knob and u only realised what happened after you felt cold.

6. While cycling, your bicycle wheel came off..

5. MRT is crowded and the guy infront who happens to have elephant foot steps unto ur feet.

4. MRT is again crowded and u are standing infront of this guy who has body odour but u have no space to move anywhere else.

3. While jogging, a football comes flying to ur left arm.

2. U were feeding bananas to monkeys at MacRitchie Reservoir and u slipped on the banana skin which the monkey threw unto the ground.

1. Knocking your head into a clear glass panel of the store, not realising that it was there.

Any silly things happened to u b4?

Be accident-free

Monday, August 1st, 2005

Hey hey, how is everyone’s weekend? Meanwhile, i was reading the news and talking to some people and i realised that it is VERY important to pray for protection over your life. People falling out of ships, feet getting caught and leading to being drowned or being kicked so hard while ministering to people during deliverance session last weekend. I feel that we must not take for granted for the fact we wake up everyday without any mishaps, thinking that God will heal ur leg on the spot even though u fell into the drain or something.

Therefore, make it a point to pray for people and yourself for protection. In your quiet time or when saying grace. I pray for my parents daily for their protection, that no mishap will ever happen to them. I thank God for the times when i was close to meet with accidents and God protected me. Phew.. I remembered one night as i was heading to church for overnight prayer meeting, i was so tired, i dozed off not once but twice. I was driving at 90km/h and somehow swerved to the left and nearly hit the sides but the angel of the Lord smacked my head not once but twice to wake me up and then i managed to wake up in time to turn the wheel back. I will never forget that incident.. what a great smack.

Meanwhile, i decided to write top 10 ways u can prevent a mishap from happening in ur life. Read carefully…

TOP 10 WAYS TO BE ACCIDENT-FREE:-

10. Sleepy don’t drive, Drive don’t sleep!

9. Look down occasionally to prevent dropping into manholes.

8. Stay away from fights with people.

7. Stay away from fights with animals.

6. Forget the "walk by faith and not by sight" habits while crossing the road. Try using the traffic lights, they are good too.

5. Don’t know how to swim then don’t swim. Accept the fact or else go learning swimming in a baby pool first.

4. Try not to do things last minute. You end up like a mad person driving recklessly.

3. Try to hold on to the wheel or the handles of the bikes. Hands-free driving is meant to happen in the future when there is auto driving or if u belong to the circus.

2. Never shallow food while is hot. You might end up hurting ur respiratory pipes.

1. Pray, Pray and pray for protection over ur life and people around you and God will send guardian angels to you so that you will not end up hurting yourself purposely or for non-purpose reasons.

Any other safety reasons people?
